Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to join an exceptional Development team as we embark on an exciting multi-year campaign for the future of New England and our world as we know it. Never has there been a more urgent moment than now, or the opportunity available to meet it. CLF’s half century experience as a trusted leader in the environmental space, unprecedented legal horsepower and regional footprint make us the perfect organization to lead the charge – and the Major Gifts Officer is a critical part of this effort.

The Major Gifts Officer will work closely with the Senior Major Gifts Officer and Senior Vice President of Development to bring to life the strategic and tactical goals of the campaign and major gifts effort at CLF. This is a full-time, exempt position located in Boston, with the opportunity for remote work within New England. The position reports to the Senior Major Gifts Officer.

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate with the Development team to achieve campaign and annual fund goals;
• Manage relationships with a portfolio of approximately 150 donors, prospects, and suspects;
• Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors within your portfolio on an annual basis;
• Create, integrate, and implement thoughtful and tailored individual major gift donor strategies;
• Ensure timely responses to all queries; maintain active correspondence with donors and communicate regularly of engagement opportunities;
• Implement strategic funding requests based on short-, intermediate-, and long- term goals of the organization to build an evolving portfolio;
• Play an active role in donor engagement at CLF events across New England;
• Develop institutional knowledge to know who and when to ask for support (advocates, board members, senior management) to create effective presentations;
• With Development staff, help curate compelling donor experiences that strengthen the connectivity among supporters;
• Mentor, motivate, and support volunteer leaders to help advance efforts with assigned prospects;
• Execute major gift materials, including briefing memos, contact reports, proposals, and other donor facing documents as needed;
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need:
• A minimum of 4-8 years of nonprofit fundraising experience with significant responsibility in major gifts;
• A bachelor’s degree;
• A curiosity for people and ability to connect with others and build relationships;
• A commitment to the environment and social justice;
• A willingness to travel frequently around New England;
• The ability to absorb complex issues/programs, think laterally about solutions, and communicate them in a succinct, coherent way;
• Strong writing, oral, and presentation skills;
• Attention to detail and strong project management skills;
• A proven ability and commitment to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects at the same time across New England;
• The ability to perform at an elevated level in a team environment and the understanding that success is measured collectively;
• Experience working in settings with a diversity of races, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including experience with a wide range of New England communities;

Salary & Benefits
