Assisting Our Neighbors in Lawrence, Andover and North Andover
On September 13, 2018, the cities of Lawrence, Andover and North Andover experienced a devastating series of gas explosions and fires, resulting in one death, multiple injuries and the destruction of at least 60 homes. Like you, we at the Boston Foundation want to respond in a way that will be of greatest assistance to those affected by this tragedy. A special Lawrence Emergency Fund has been established by the Essex County Community Foundation to aid the families that have experienced medical emergencies, displacement and damage to their homes. Initial distribution of $50,000 will go to four local organizations
TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank@ and United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley announce they are establishing the Greater Lawrence Relief Fund and will make an initial distribution of $50,000 to help families meet their basic needs and recover from the displacement from their homes and businesses caused by gas explosions.Those in need of assistance with housing, transportation, child care and other needs may access support services by dialing 211. As of 5 a.m. Friday morning, the 211 line had received over 500 calls for assistance related to the Merrimack Valley fires. Resources can also be searched online by visiting mass211.org.
