Clean Transportation Policy Research & Events Internship

Green Energy Consumers Alliance is a non-profit organization that enables people to make green energy choices in the most cost-effective, practical, and seamless ways possible, and to advocate for energy policies that benefit the greater good. One of our focus areas is the transportation sector, which now accounts for the largest portion of greenhouse gas emissions. We address this sector through Drive Green, our educational program about electric vehicles, and through public policy advocacy on electrification, public transit, and more. This spring, we seek an intern to help us on both fronts with research and event planning.

Internship responsibilities include:

  • Research, as needed, into policies, programs, and market developments around electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, public transit, rate design, and more;
  • Assist on Drive Green outreach;
  • Assist with webinars and events;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn more about clean energy, climate mitigation, the transportation sector, public policy, and/or the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Good written & verbal communication skills;
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to closely follow written procedures;
  • Permanent residency in Massachusetts OR attending a Massachusetts college or university. Eligible students must meet one of the following:
    Students must have completed or will complete at least their freshman year of college the semester before the internship (24 Credits) or have graduated within the past year.
    If a student attends or attended a community college (or 2‐year associate program), the student must have completed at least 24 credits.
    If a student has attended a training program, that program must have been completed within the last year.
    Graduate students must be currently enrolled in their program or have completed it within the last year

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with electric vehicles, renewable energy, and/or energy policy with a desire to learn more.
  • Ability to work from our Jamaica Plain office at least one day per week.
  • Driver’s license.

Other details:
This 20 – 30 hours per week, 12-week internship will be conducted in hybrid fashion, both remotely and from our Jamaica Plain office. It will start after January 1, 2023, and end by May 14, 2023. The hours can be fulfilled around your schedule, but must be during 9am-6pm M-F.  Payment will be $19/hr. The internship is contingent upon funding from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center internship program.
